A Texas Historical Marker honoring Garland’s Manuel and Maria Valle Family, the first Latinos to call Garland home, was unveiled Saturday, May 20, at the site of their original home at the intersection of Avenue C and Santa Fe streets in Downtown Garland. It is the first Texas in Garland to recognize a Latino subject. It was awarded to Friends of Garland's Historic Magic 11th St. by the Texas Historical Commission.
